Mark A. D'Andrea, M.D. | Board Certified Radiation Oncologist

 

 Radiation Oncology and Therapeutic Radiology

 

An innovator in his field, Dr. D’Andrea is first to implement the latest methods of cancer treatment, such as IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy) for head and neck, lung, prostate, breast and colorectal cancers. Stereotactic Radiosurgery is also used to treat primary brain cancer as well as spinal tumors, where unaffected tissues can be spared and side effects minimized. Sophisticated treatment planning systems utilize beam modifiers in combination with chemotherapy. Other state-of-the-art technologies also include the most advanced real time prostate implant system. Dr. D’Andrea holds numerous patents for inventing radiation therapy devises and has assisted in establishing comprehensive multi-specialty centers in Texas. Former president of the Harris County Medical Society’s Southeast Branch and former chief of the Department of Medicine at Columbia Bayshore Hospital, and fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology, Dr. D’Andrea hold multiple distinctions. Additionally, he served four years as a member of the Texas Medical Association Council on Scientific Affairs.

Lin Lin Liu, M.D. | Board Certified Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology

 

Dr. Liu joined the staff of the Northwest Cancer Center in 1993, and since that time she has taken an active role on key committees of local hospitals, including the Cancer Advisory Committee for Houston Northwest Hospital. Dr. Liu is a member of the Harris County Medical Society, American Society of Oncology and Texas Medical Associates. She he has a strong belief in excellence in care and quality assurance, and has chaired quality improvement committees of several northwest area hospitals. Dr. Liu was the Principal Investigator for an AIDS research project on patients with Kaposi’s sarcoma, and has been a popular lecturer on cancer topics at Houston hospitals. She has become an expert on cancer in the elderly. She believes in forming strong partnerships with her patients and their family members, and urges them to share in the many decisions necessary for effective care and treatment. During her leisure time, she pursues four passions: Country music, her rose gardens, fiddling, and Oklahoma college football.

Veena Chandrakar, M.D. | Board Certified Hematolgy, Internal Medicine and Medical Oncolgoy

 

Before pursuing her Medical Degree, Dr. Chandrakar earned a B. S. – Magna Cum Laude – in Biology and English Literature from Houston Baptist University. While serving her Fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital, she participated in advanced colorectal and lung cancer research, helped to develop several protocols for the treatment of colorectal cancer, as well as evaluating the treatment side effects. Dr. Chandrakar published several reports on breast cancer topics. Earlier in her career, she was involved in a research project to evaluate cholesterol levels in Hispanic children and their family members. Dr. Chandrakar is member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, a member of the American Medical Association, and the Network of South Asian Professionals. Dr. Chandrakar loves to write poetry, travel and spend time with friends. Her interests include multiculturalism, traveling and fashion. She is the author of “The Battle, A Break in the Clouds”, National Library of Poetry, 1993.

Mohsin Qayyum, MD, MBA | Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in General Adult Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry​

 

Dr Mohsin Qayyum, MD finished his residency training in Psychiatry at the University of Chicago Hospitals and his fellowship training in Geriatric Psychiatry at the Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinics in Pittsburgh. He also holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.

Dr. Qayyum has clinical experience in various fields of psychiatry including: Adult Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Consultation & Liaison Psychiatry, Neuropsychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry and Occupational Psychiatry. He is certified to perform Outpatient Narcotics Detoxification and Maintenance Treatment by using Buprenorphine.

Dr. Qayyum is a Medical Director at CIGNA. He has extensive management expertise in the insurance industry. He has worked with major US corporations in assisting them with disability management and work place mental health issues.  He is available for consultation in work-related Workers’ Compensation issues, Absenteeism, Presenteeism and Psychiatric Disabilities.
