Where to begin? Many patients tend to feel overwhelmed, and many have so many questions they need a little help organizing their thoughts to begin the fight against cancer and get on the road to recovery. This is where Texas Medical Charities (TMC) steps in to offer support and guidance.
TMC was created by cancer survivors who share a passion for life and a desire to help others with cancer. Their mission is to reduce the number of cancer related deaths by providing access to treatment for all cancer patients, regardless of their financial status. The non—profit organization provides assistance for patients in all aspects – from transportation, treatment as well as access to clinical research trials. TMC was founded to support cancer patients and their family members throughout the whole process and give hope to those who have none.
At TMC we have the mindset that it takes a village to overcome cancer. Our patients are extremely lucky because our village consists of the great state of Texas. While headquartered in Southeast Houston, we have four state-wide regions, which each region of Texas raising funds to help cancer patients with the resources they need to continue treatment.
These regions also look for unique ways to promote cancer awareness while simultaneously promoting the charity. Knowledge is power, and each volunteer and physician is dedicated to educating the world on the dangers of cancer, how to prevent it, and the next steps to take should someone find themselves on the receiving end of a diagnosis.
While each region assists in finding volunteers to help with everything from administrative tasks, patient support, counseling and transportation, TMC is dependent on community support. Support from people just like you is what helps make this organization the cancer-fighting powerhouse with an end-game to stop cancer in its tracks. We’re constantly working to discover efficient and effective ways to get patients low cost health insurance, pro bono services and treatments. With your help there will be even more resources to help get patients the medicine they need along with the equipment and access to live saving clinical trials. TMC boasts a large network of doctors and centers in Houston and the surrounding areas. Each board-certified doctor is an expert in his or her field of cancer and can give customized treatment options for each patient.
The goal of TMC is to stay up-to-date on the latest methods to diagnose and treat cancer. This ensures each patient has the best possible chance of survival.
