Fitness for Health not Fashion

Some people have a misconception that the fitness craze everyone seems to be on is only for cosmetic purposes. While one of the unintentional benefits of being fit is that you can fit better in a variety of different outfits and styles, fashion shouldn’t be your motivation for being fit.

Living a healthy lifestyle is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Not only does it help prevent deadly diagnosis like cancer, but also gives you a much more positive outlook on life. Being fit is great for your body, mind and spirit. People who lead more active lifestyles take their health into their own control. For example, even if there is a cancer diagnosis, the more physically fit you are before undergoing treatment goes a long way in helping you fight and win over different types of cancer.

Obesity is a huge problem that is plaguing the nation. Not everything is bigger and better, and portions definitely fall under this category. Eating in moderation, and snacking throughout the day do much more towards helping you lead a healthier lifestyle than large portions at meal times. We have a tendency to overeat, and this can lead to huge (no pun intended) problems. The fact of the matter is, our bodies were not meant to carry extra weight, and that leads to strain on not only your muscles, but other internal organs and systems. Those that are physically active and eat foods in moderate portion sizes are much leaner, and at less risk for cancer and other health issues.

Not only is eating in moderation important, but eating the right things are essential for healthy living. Getting a kids meal at McDonald’s every day isn’t what we mean when we think of portion control. Eat to live, not live to eat. That should be the life motto of adults and children everywhere. Fast food and other processed foods are not good for the body, take longer to digest, and can often leave harmful deposits in the colon and other areas. Sometimes processed foods eat away at the inside of stomach linings, and can contribute to ulcers and other body issues. Take the time to research new recipes and try swapping out ingredients for healthier options. You don’t need to eat clean every meal, but just take into consideration what you are putting in your body, and reach for natural and organic snacks and food instead of processed foods.

Maintaining a healthy weight is important. One fact that isn’t stressed enough is that some people often times are under weight. So not only do you have to look out for overeating, but you also have to be aware of not eating enough of the right foods that your body needs to function properly. Taking the time to step outside of what the media portrays as fashionable and beautiful, you can unlock your inner confidence while fueling your body with the proper nutrients it needs to run like a well-oiled machine.
